Forging bonds and changing lives: one child, one school, one community at a time.
What We Do
Changing lives and making our world smaller through personal relationships.
FSMS cultivates and supports sister-school relationships between schools in the archdioceses of Seattle, Washington and Mombasa, Kenya.
Sponsor Girls' Mentorship Programs
FSMS sponsors two annual multi-day retreats for adolescent girls from our Mombassa schools. This program addresses an important local concern, as many girls do not make the shift from primary school to 9th grade; and many more girls drop out of high school before graduating.
Facilitate Student Scholarship
Each of our Seattle sister schools provides scholarship funding for a number of students in Mombasa. FSMS works with the Mombasa Archdiocese to coordinate and monitor the scholarship grants. In 2019, nearly 40 Kenyan students are able to attend secondary school thanks to full tuition grants from our Seattle sister schools.
Coordinate Capital Projects
FSMS coordinates with the Archdiocese of Mombasa on capital projects to meet the most vital needs of our Mombasa schools. These have included a school learning center and computer lab, a school kitchen, a renovated girls dormitory, and a wells providing fresh water for students and their community.
