Supporting our Mombasa students through high school... and beyond
Secondary Education
The Problem with High School
Education is free in Kenya, but only through the 8th grade. Students' families must pay annual tuition, as well as room and board, as the majority of secondary schools are boarding schools. Uniforms, books, and transportation are extra expenses. Our Seattle Sister Schools fund scholarships for the most deserving students of their Mombasa communities. FSMS coordinates with the Mombasa schools and the archdiocese to ensure that the students are supported, not only financially, but in every way. As of 2019, over 30 students are receiving a high school education thanks to FSMS.
University Education
Making a Difference
FSMS and its Seattle sister schools have been enabling Mombasan students to receive secondary education for nearly 10 years...and some of them have done so wel that they have gone on to university!
